I head about this hop just today by reading Cynthia's blog Antiquity Travelers  Not only is this a great idea, there are prizes to be won!  (more about that later)

Young

In May and June 2011, we re-nested 3 baby barred owls in our backyard.  This is the first owl, named Barry by the neighborhood children.

In June 2011 we watched a robin build a nest and lay eggs.  One baby hatched.  See the baby's development HERE.

While driving in Kootenay National Park in Canada this Summer, we saw a mama and a baby moose blithely eating vegetation by the side of the road.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

WILD

a long abandoned birds' nest in a hawthorn tree.  The wild birds have flown to more Southern climes.

 

WELCOME 

at the entrance to an apartment complex (near the bike path)


ADVENTURE
 
This bike path follows an old railway line and is close to the Little Miami Scenic River.  Most of the trail is in the Little Miami State Park.  75 miles long, the trail travels through 5 counties.  It connects to 4 other trails.  In 2008 it was the longest paved trail in the US.  (I don't have current statistics.)
(PS:  I live in the Cincinnati, Ohio area.)


VIBRANT
 
Scarlet leafed trees almost glow against the green grass and the blue (ish) sky!  These trees are next to the bike path.  See it?


CLASSIC

gold tipped cypress.  We planted new bushes in the front of our house after ripping out the old overgrown ones.

Ginko leaves turn golden yellow in the Fall brightening the landscape even on an overcast day.

 

a late harvest--just a few days ago before the rain and chill.  I'm particularly proud of the carrots I grew--a first.  See the 3 small roundish orange carrots on the right?

I love the patterns of bare tree branches!  The large cloud and the deep blue sky add another layer of pattern.

At my dermatologist's there was this machine on the wall.  Don't know what it does.  Not sure I want to know.  (no worries, just a regular checkup)

Flowing from the Daly Glacier of the Waputik Icefield, Takakkaw Falls is one of the highest waterfalls in Canada at 1246 ft (380m).  Takakkaw means "magnificent" in Cree.
