a birthday memory

Here I am, 2 years old, standing in front of the chair my Grandma gave me for my birthday. I remember receiving that gift! It was way up high on our round oak dining table. I was looking up at it from below. I was mesmerized. This was a special gift, for my Grandma died when I was 4 and I have only a few memories of her. I had that chair for a long, long time. So here I am, a 2 year old in big girl pants (!), clutching my stuffed animals. (I always loved stuffed animals.) Note those cool old-fashioned baby shoes. (Please ignor the lack of a fancy dress, or even, ahem, just a shirt.)
This is for the etsy bloggers street team carnival!

  6. I just got rid of my first rocking chair last summer when we moved from CA to OR. It was with me for 35 years. Funny how we have early memories wound up with certain items. What a cute photo!

  8. What a sweet picture. The candid moments are the best and it's great to have fond memories of our loved ones, even if our time with them was short.

  10. Two of my grandparents were already dead when I was born. My mother's mother died of TB when I was 4. My father's father died when I was 6. I didn't have much "grandparent love" exprience growing up. I have heard that my Grandma was an amazing, wonderful, loving person. I have only 2 other memories of her.
On the other hand, my children have been very lucky to have wonderful grandparents around while growing up. Through them, I have witnessed "grandparent love." (which, of course, goes both ways and is very special)
