The model of Mersham, near Ashford, has been knitted by members of the village's 40-strong Afternoon Club over the past 23 years.
Lost Mitten has a post on this and I just had to share. Go to her blog post and get a link to a short video of the village. See some of the ladies and a few of the bulidings AND a cricket field complete with players onOtter Wise. The village has been on display over the years to raise money for city hall. But as of May 16, it is being sold piece by piece.
included in the village display are: (all knitted!) cars, houses, school, school bus, people, church, shops, pub, gardens, wheelie bins, outdoor loos, gas tanks, pigs, red telephone box....
Too sweet! I love it!

ReplyDeleteOoo - like you said on my blog - a beaded village would be cool! I've seen beaded sculpture and one of my dreams is be able to do something like that some day :) I have a pattern for a rose that I want to start with but I need to get a couple other things worked on first...and enough beads...

That is amazing! It's sad that it's being sold off piece by piece. It would be really cool to put it up for auction as a complete work. If a museum or something bought it then the whole village could be displayed somewhere...forever. WOW!
