memes continued

According to The Daily Meme
a meme (rhymes with cream)  is:
An idea that, like a gene, can replicate and evolve.
*   A unit of cultural information that represents a basic idea that can be transferred from one individual to another, and subjected to mutation, crossover and adaptation.
*   A cultural unit (an idea or value or pattern of behavior) that is passed from one generation to another by nongenetic means (as by imitation); “memes are the cultural counterpart of genes”.  Check the link for additional memes.
Richard Dawkins' 1976 book, The Selfish Gene conceives of a meme as “a unit of cultural transmission, or a unit of imitation.”  Apparently, there is no strict or consistent definition of the term.  In the context of blogging, I think of it as a theme that individual bloggers post about on their blog, and then link back to the original blog, thus sharing their take on that theme with all other posters.
(Once again, blogger is being persnickety and spreading out the content in my first post.  It would not let me add this content.  Thus this is a separate post.  I have tried to fix it over and over again, and am about ready to scream.  However, I trust that it is readable and useful.)

  1. roflol - blogger's favorite thing to do to me is to get 'stuck' in the center mode. The only way I can go back to justified left, is to publish it on a future date and then go back and edit it and publish. What's up with that??? lol!

    fun posts =)

  2. Blogger did that to me for awhile and then suddenly it stopped. My problem with blogger lately is it keep taking blogs off my dashboard so I keep missing posts!

I haven't seen any of these posts on my dashboard but thought I would come over and see what's going on.
