I will write about the things I love--photography, art, making things, nature, gardening, and food.

yesterday...
Most of the old family photos were in shoeboxes. Sometime after my father died, I put the photos into a simple scrapbook. My mother and I spent nearly a week off and on organizing. She expressed that it was a painful process because many of her loved ones were no longer living.
Here is a page of the album featuring my father.
I think the kindergarten promotion booklet is a treasure! My father is on the far right.
This album begins with photos of my mother's and my father's families as far back as we had photos. The album includes photos of my parents' childhood years. My parents were married for about 12 years before I was born, their first child. So the remainder of the album includes photos up till that time.
I wish I had recorded my mother's voice as she told stories of all the people in the album.
Alphabe-Thursday, hosted by Ms Jenny, is so much fun! This week our letter is "Y." Come visit others' submissions HERE and join in the fun!

What a special album and memories! I need to take the time to organize albums so I can enjoy family memories too.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! I'm sure these will be cherished for generations. My parents have old photo albums from my great aunts where were great at labeling the photos. They are such a treasure for the family.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to record your mother's voice. Too bad that you didn't think of it earlier! I will remember that next time I visit my mom!

ReplyDeleteHe was my "second dad", a true friend to me and our family.

That's wonderful! My mother has a special album from when she was about 15 with photos of her school friends and a handwritten note from her teacher. She gave me the album for safe keeping :)

ReplyDeleteI love looking at old photographs. You know the photos were so special as it's not like today where we have the ability to take and develop as many photos as we wish. Lovely keepsake!
