Sonoran desert
decorated by prickles
conserves its beauty
desert dwelling birds
fly high into prickles
create domiciles
ancient rock towers
above the verdant valley
to glorious sky

Cactus is so fascinating on how it grows. Beautiful photos Margaret!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a beautiful place and you've captured it perfectly along with the lovely skies! Marvelous captures! Thanks for sharing the beauty with us! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
The desert looks so beautiful! Zion NP is in my "to go" list! Thanks for the glimpse of its wonders!
ReplyDeleteGreat eye candy! Zion looks so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAmazing shots. That cactus in the middle photo is a work of art!
ReplyDeleteYes, we love that one in the middle too!
ReplyDeleteyour catcus and sky combo is quite a sight, thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteAmazing cacti!!! I especially love the second photo...what a cool cactus! And the rock towers! My hubby and I had a layover in Salt Lake City, Utah and we were in awe with the mountain range formations that we could see from the airport. I lived and graduated in Alamogordo, NM, and I remember the cactus and mountains around where we lived.
ReplyDeleteBlessings & Aloha!
I had yesterday and today off from work, so I hope to get caught up on some blog reading. Thank you so much for stopping by and for making it through my very long novel of a post! With working outside the home, trying to be sure I return those that visit my blog, and yet not find myself permanently attached to the computer, I barely manage to get one post up a week, so my posts tend to be long...those reasons, as well as my natural tendency to be long-winded when writing! :o)
I LOVE the desert. That's why we moved to Tucson from Memphis almost 13 years ago. And I love my Catalina mountains. This is a very peaceful place for me.
ReplyDeleteThe cactus (the second photo) is awesome!! I like how you captured all of those little twists within the plant.
ReplyDeleteWhat great texture and detail in that second one!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my! Is that what cacti look like in their natural habitat? Amazing!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Anna

ReplyDeleteWell fancy that! Joey's preschool theme this week is the desert, and the letter D! Thanks for all those delightful D words!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of cacti too. My big brother lives in AZ, and has been known at times to be a prick. ha! So your post has reminded me of him. (Good thing he doesn't read your blog! Lil sis would get a butt-whoopin' for that one. hehe.)
Off to drink a glass of water. :)
Wow! Great shots and captions too! Thanks for stopping over and commenting!
ReplyDeletelove the pic of Zion! How beautiful is that! {:-D
ReplyDeleteIt's hard for someone like me, addicted to green landscapes, to imagine the desert could be so beautiful, but it is, and your photos show off that beauty wonderfully!

ReplyDeleteLove the photos from the desert, we don´t have deserts in Sweden so it´s exciting for me. :)
ReplyDeleteI havent been to Zion yet....maybe someday...We hope to take out little vintage trailer there to camp.
