I've come across in my travels...

Lots of bears--both black and grizzly--roam the Canadian wilderness in Jasper and Banff National Parks.  This sign is on a large trash bin.

sign in Castries Market in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia.  I wrote about this market HERE. Of note is that this market made National Geographic's "World's Best Top Ten Food Markets" list at #3!

This bear sign is in Glacier National Park in the US.  I saw 13 bears on my last trip here, some of them fairly close.

 

I'm including this just because I like the photo and this path.  This walking/bike trail is 75 miles long and goes through 5 counties and 11 cities/towns.  There are a number of connector trails and more are planned.  It's not far away from where I live.The slippery bridges have now been paved over and so are much safer.

I've come across in my travels...

Utah

Glacier National Park (sign posted at the beginning of a hike)

brrrrr....on the Icefields Parkway, Jasper in late August (temps are Centigrade; in the higher elevations, it's even colder!)

Jasper National Park, Canada.  Did we actually see any bears?  no, unfortunately.

sign in front of the Athabasca Glacier in Jasper National Park.  In spite of several warning signs, including one informing of the fall of a young boy into a crevasse several years earlier, people still crossed over and walked onto the glacier.  I have seen people not obey warning signs and do some pretty stupid things, like jumping into a pool of churning water with a rapid current above a waterfall.  Perhaps they think because they are on vacation they are immune to disaster.
This sign reads:

DANGERS BEYOND THIS POINT

crevasses and millwells (DEEP HOLES, SOMETIMES HIDDEN)

changeable ice conditions

swift flowing creeks with slippery banks

PARTIES PROCEEDING BEYOND THIS POINT MUST HAVE:

mountaineering and crevasse rescue equipment

the knowledge of how to use it

a special party

5 years cancer-free!   That was the occasion for the celebration in Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park.  My friends and I wanted to rejoice over a benchmark in the life of another special friend.  This was the perfect setting for a party. 

We created a vignette under the shade of a trio of trees, first by laying down a quilt "floor," then by setting a low table with linens.  Our seats were pillows.  Flowers, delicious home~made food, and mimosas completed the picture.  Next to each place was a keepsake vintage glass filled with soil and an angel wing begonia.

After our luncheon, we wandered through some of the beautiful 265 acres of meadows, rolling hills, woods, and gardens.  We enjoyed taking photos of the wonderful (world class) sculptures and gorgeous landscapes.

We ended our celebration in another area of the park, with dessert cookies and tea.  a perfect day!

Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park, a non-profit organization located in SW Ohio, USA, was founded by Harry T. Wilks in 1996.  This park was touted as the "most beautiful natural setting of any art park in the country" by Atlantic Monthly.

"Our mission is the eventual establishment of a collection which will demonstrate the complete history of sculpture by mankind, making Pyramid Hill the only art park in the world working on the accomplishment. "
