The End: Alphabet Soup

And so we come to the end of yet another odyssey with Alphabe-Thursday!  What a challenge it has been at times to come up with a creative post for the current letter of the alphabet.  I've enjoyed this journey with you, my readers and fellow Alphabe-Thursdayers, sharing our posts and lives.
Thanks, Jenny!  You've created a fun and inspiring community!

Hell (Grand Cayman)

Welcome to Hell...Hell, Grand Cayman, that is!

How did Hell get its name?  That is the question of which legends are made.
photo © by Sreejithk2000

There is a large field of unique limestone formations (ironshore) in this small town.  Over a period of many years, coral, shells, and other skeletons of sea life were solidified by limestone and salt deposits into this formidable landscape.  Some say this is what Hell would look like.   Some say if you throw a pebble into the formations, you can hear it rattling all the way down to Hell.

This is the gift shop.  Nearby is the post office where you can send "postcards from Hell."

Don't park here!

signs

I've come across in my travels...
Lots of bears--both black and grizzly--roam the Canadian wilderness in Jasper and Banff National Parks.  This sign is on a large trash bin.

sign in Castries Market in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia.  I wrote about this market HERE. Of note is that this market made National Geographic's "World's Best Top Ten Food Markets" list at #3!

more Castries Market

This bear sign is in Glacier National Park in the US.  I saw 13 bears on my last trip here, some of them fairly close.

I'm including this just because I like the photo and this path.  This walking/bike trail is 75 miles long and goes through 5 counties and 11 cities/towns.  There are a number of connector trails and more are planned.  It's not far away from where I live. The slippery bridges have now been paved over and so are much safer.

Vacation-Cayman Islands

arriving
See the line of white foam near the top of the photo?  That's a coral reef.  The deeper blue above is the sea. (arriving Grand Cayman)
tranquility, snorkeling, warmth, sea breeze, beauty
gazebo and beach: Mango Manor, Cayman Brac
sunset view from our table at Macabuca Restaurant at Cracked Conch
There are 3 Cayman Islands, a British Overseas territory, located in the Western Caribbean Sea south of Cuba.
Cayman Brac: 14 square miles, 1500 residents (Brac is Gaelic for bluff.  There is a cliff, a bluff, that runs through the center of the island from the West at sea level, rising to about 140 feet at the Eastern end.)
Grand Cayman:  88 square miles, 48,000 residents  (Known for Seven Mile Beach and Stingray City.  We did get in the water with @ 50 stingrays swarming us.  They were like puppy dogs, wanting to be petted and fed.  We took a wonderful boat trip with Stingray Sailing-- LINK)
a little note:  residents pronounce Cayman with emphasis on both syllables.   Kay'  man'

Come join in the fun at Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday.  You will be enlightened, charmed, and have some plain ole fun!  See more entries HERE.  This week our letter is "V."
