July

a few random photos from my life this July...
A butterfly landed on her nose!  a visit to Krohn Conservatory for the butterfly exhibit:  lots of butterflies, lots of people, lots of fun!

Raindrops dot a spider's web and sparkle like jewels in the sun.

My husband and I visited friends and family in Indianapolis in early July.  We took our bikes and rode along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, "a world-class urban bike and pedestrian path that connects neighborhoods, Cultural Districts and entertainment amenities, and serves as the downtown hub for the entire central Indiana greenway system."  Heading home eastward bound, the sunset behind us was glorious!

Purple People Bridge  Formerly a railroad bridge, the Purple People Bridge is now a pedestrian walkway connecting Cincinnati to Northern Kentucky.  My husband and I took a stroll along the Cincinnati Riverfront after watching the Reds win a game against the Mariners.

Oliver is sooo tired after playing with puff balls.  (Next project:  recovering the seats of my kitchen chairs.  Sometime in the past--and I'm NOT saying how long ago!--I had the chairs striped and then I refinished them.)

I dyed lots of new scrunchies (Some are still available in my etsy shop), chamois, and custom orders.

friends meeting for lunch!  I've taken lots of flora and fauna photos.  It's so fun to wander around my yard, camera in hand.

Alphabe-Thursday, hosted by Ms Jenny, is so much fun!  This week our letter is "J." Come visit others' submissions HERE and join in the fun!

Textures

a random collection of textures...
not a black and white photo!  (March 31, 2013)

Let's add some brightness!  This is a stack of tie dyed T shirts ready to be shipped to their new home.

taken March 25, 2013.  It's supposed to be Spring!  This is not black and white either!

some variety of kalanchoe (St. Lucia).  Baby plants develop along the edges of the leaves of the mature plant.   cool, huh?!

chamois, tie dye style

A box of colorful tie dyed chamois awaits transportation to  Kast-A-Way Swimwear where they will be sold to swimmers and divers all over the country.

A lovely pile of assorted rubber bands awaits sorting before fulfilling their job of holding tied chamois together.

Oliver hopefully awaits any excitement that may happen.

Earnest awaits the joy of playing in an empty box.  (He loves boxes so!)

A basket of tied chamois awaits eventual dyeing.

and flags being processed.  (Here is one of my chamois towels on Springboards and More.)

I dyed the outfit.  My daughter photographed this sweet little baby.

Hoodoos are tall, thin, spires of rock with variable thicknesses, having a "totem pole" shape.  They consist of soft stone topped by harder rock that erodes much more slowly.

We stayed with friends in Hurricane.   a topographical map for planning a mountain biking trip.  Notice that the gorgeous Zion National Park is nearby.

cute in pink

my sweet little grandniece in a dress I dyed and painted

the most fun!  It has pockets in which to store treasures!  Here she's picked a leaf and is putting it in her pocket.

HERE is another photo of her wearing a blue dress and of course those pink shoes!

fireworks and flags

Independence Day--July 4th--is almost here!  Time to celebrate!

with fireworks!
I love the patterns fireworks make!  The circle here is actually the moon!

more of the moon!  These fireworks patterns inspire me artistically to think of dyeing projects.

This photo was taken at a fireworks show after a Reds baseball game.  My friend Sammy's band plans to use this photo for the cover of their new album Live Forever

and with flags!
I just finished dyeing a bunch of these chamois (soft, very absorbent towels) for Kast-A-Way Swimwear.  This particular flag chamois is taken from the Dive Cincinnati/Springboards and More website.  (I cannot believe I didn't take a photo of a completed dyed flag chamois!)  Here are some flags just after they've been dyed.
Speaking of flag chamois, the Summer Olympics are coming up, so these are very popular right now.
It would be so great to actually see one of my chamois at the Olympics!  Do let me know if you see them.  To the left and right are photos of some of my tie dye chamois for those of you who have been asking to see them.

Here is a cute little boy wearing a flag shirt I made.   (You can find these in my shop.)

And here is a photo from a tie dye session at a Girl Scout summer camp in 2009 from the blog post Red, White, and Blue!
