Ophir Pass is stunningly beautiful. We rented a four wheel drive vehicle and drove this road in early September 2007. A couple days later the pass was closed due to snow.
Ophir Pass is just south of Telluride in the San Juan Mountains. The road is dirt, and in many cases wide enough for only one vehicle. The whole area is breathtakingly beautiful.
