Tis like the birthday of the world,
When earth was born in bloom... ~Thomas Hood
Who can resist the feelings of hope and joy that one gets from participating in nature's rebirth? ~Edward GiobbiWhen April steps aside for May,
Like diamonds all the rain-drops glisten;
Fresh violets open every day:
To some new bird each hour we listen.
~Lucy Larcom
For winter's rains and ruins are over,
And all the season of snows and sins;
The days dividing lover and lover,
The light that loses, the night that wins;
And time remembered is grief forgotten,
And frosts are slain and flowers begotten,
And in green underwood and cover
Blossom by blossom the spring begins."
~ Algernon Charles Swinburne (1890)

And my bday is May the 7th Wooo Hooo May :)
ReplyDeleteOh I do agree about May though it is overcast and raining here in my part of the UK. But this is the month it all starts to happen in the gardens.

ReplyDeleteHappy May Day! I really like the quotes - thank you.
ReplyDeleteP.S. The cats do sleep on each other's quilts, of course! We try to put each cat's quilt where he/she sleeps the most - not sure where Franklin's is going to go since he likes to sleep anywhere and everywhere.

ReplyDeleteThank you!
Your talent is amazing! I love the birds in their nest. Ahhhh....spring.
ReplyDeleteThe robins are in my neighbors' holly tree--prickly leaves, so interesting choice. We had fun watching the adults feeding the babies--just beaks peaking upward out of the nest. The robins are more mature now. I took a photo on 5/2 of 4 beaks lined up at a 45 degree angle poking upward out of the nest.
ReplyDeleteAnd there was a box turtle making a little hollow in the mulch under the water spigot.
Everything comes alive in the Spring! a glorious time of year.
So beautiful, fantastic photos.

Lovely photos! I just LOVE flowers. They make the world a better place!
ReplyDeleteI think the 2nd one is either an azalea or rhododendron. I'm from NC, are you??? It's time for the rhodies to bloom now and the azaleas have just finished...
