Waterfowl Lake

a beautiful lake along the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies.   The water is a lovely turquoise to seafoam green even on this cloudy day.  In early September most flowers have gone to seed and the greens are touched with gold.

a beautiful spot where my husband and I shared a picnic lunch on a previous visit.  I love this small clump of aspens.  Peeking through the trunks are mountains.

Bow Lake

Bow Lake lies along the Bow River in the beautiful Canadian Rockies of Banff National Park.  Even on this cloudy day, the waters are gorgeous turquoise (due to glacial flour).  Crowfoot Glacier (seen above) supplies water to the Bow River.  (Glaciers in the Bow River Valley supply a fraction of water to the river, snowmelt being the largest contributor.)

PS:  I accidentally deleted this post when I already had some comments!    eerrrrrrgghhh!  I searched and searched how to restore it.  Nothing worked.  I had a tab open with the post on it, so I copied and pasted.
I love comments and am sad to loose some, so here are the original ones:

signs

I've come across in my travels...
Lots of bears--both black and grizzly--roam the Canadian wilderness in Jasper and Banff National Parks.  This sign is on a large trash bin.

sign in Castries Market in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia.  I wrote about this market HERE. Of note is that this market made National Geographic's "World's Best Top Ten Food Markets" list at #3!

This bear sign is in Glacier National Park in the US.  I saw 13 bears on my last trip here, some of them fairly close.

I'm including this just because I like the photo and this path.  This walking/bike trail is 75 miles long and goes through 5 counties and 11 cities/towns.  There are a number of connector trails and more are planned.  It's not far away from where I live. The slippery bridges have now been paved over and so are much safer.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

SOMETHING YOU WORE
a necklace I made of copper wire.  I wear it all the time!

REFLECTION
Edge of my house, deck, hydrangeas, and woods are reflected in the side panel of a car parked in my driveway.

INSIDE YOUR FRIDGE
a bowl of sliced heirloom tomatoes ( and yes, the green ones ARE ripe!) and a bowl of organic apples from my CSA.  See the edge of the pizza box on the right?  leftovers from Sunday lunch with our son, his girlfriend, and her parents.  (Ashley says Felicity loves the mustard container.  She is a girl after my own heart!  We are big fans of mustard, too!   There's a mustard container barely visible in back of the apples.)

DAILY ROUTINE
playing with Oliver!  (Trying to get him to pose for a photo is nearly impossible!)

MORNING
I love tea, especially green tea.  (no coffee for this girl!)

This is a very fun meme hostessed by Ashley Sisk in which 5 prompts are given and one must then take a photo to illustrate each one.  Come see how others have interpreted these words HERE

Next week's words are:

  1. Rule of Thirds
  2. Made Me Smile
  3. Lines
  4. Alone
  5. Together

Bow River

I just got back from a most wonderful vacation in the Canadian Rockies.  I was hoping to post some of my favorite photos for the letter R.  But alas, my photos are stuck in my husband's computer!  I do have my photos from our last day when we drove to Canmore and walked along the Bow River.  Here are a few...
Most of the flowers in the Rockies had gone to seed, but we did see some occasional blooms.

From the red * we walked South.  Eventually the path goes into woods.

What a great path along this beautiful river!  walk, run, bike, sit on a bench, play!

 hamming it up with shadows!
