peaks

The drive along the Going-to-the-Sun Road to Logan Pass in Glacier National Park (USA) is spectacular.  The pass itself is the highest point in the park reachable by car at 6646 ft. (2025m).  The following photos are from a hike to Hidden Lake.
Clements Mountain (8760 ft / 2670 m) along the trail is majestic.

In late August of 2011, there was still snow on the path.

Mountain goats (see 2 above) and bighorn sheep can be seen along this path.  In fact, we were just a few feet away from mountain goats at one point.

Along the path...The sky is an ever changing panoply of blue and white and gray.

  5. Love the goats! I'd love to visit that part of the country some day. I've been to all of the eastern states, but pretty much nothing west of the Mississippi (and still on the continent!).

  8. That is so pretty. It seem so strange to see snow on the ground and people in shirt sleeves. It probably gets real cold at night?

  12. Margaret, your pictures are gorgeous, but then the scenery in Glacier is gorgeous! I haven't been there for about 45 years, and so want to go back. Was planning to go last year, but maybe will make it this year! Wish me luck!
