magic

Mossy Magic
Late January.  A gentle snow had frosted the landscape with a sugar-ice coating.  Eight friends embarked on a hike through a gorgeous forest enjoying the Wintery loveliness.
(hike to Natural Bridge, Red River Gorge, Kentucky)

Butterfly Magic
A young girl marvels at the loveliness of the pretty butterfly landing on her fingers.
(The Butterfly Farm, St. Martin)

Sunrise Magic
I rarely see sunrises, and this one from an airplane was awesome!

Kitty Magic
Oliver is so charming as well as the sweetest!

Flower Magic
Two black eyed susans grew together creating this strange and curious flower.  The other side (which you cannot see) looks exactly like this side.

Meow!

or "Life Lately"

Life is very busy for a Nap Adept like me!

I spend my valuable time seeking out the most comfortable sleeping spots-- such as the best sun puddles or

my favorite blankie given to me by my hooman brotfur.

aaahh...just a little stretch
then back to business

Let's see.  Is this more comfortable or

is this?

As you can see I take this most valuable work very seriously.

Castries Market: St Lucia

Castries Market in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia is bustling with vendors selling local produce, art, craft items, spices, clothing, gifts, and more!
This is where locals come to shop. Opened in 1894, there are about 300 permanent vendors housed inside buildings, and more who set up outside.  There are even a few small restaurants.

interesting produce  (The green fruit is probably soursop.   Duni says the pink fruit is jambu fruit.)

We visited on a Saturday, supposedly the liveliest and most vibrant day of the week.  The market is open every day except Sunday.

more interesting produce

I bought some soap and spices such as whole nutmeg with its mace intact, and a block of cocoa.

A favorite drink is fresh coconut juice.  This vendor is slicing the top off a coconut for the customer.

This man watched me taking photos and wanted me to photograph him.  Of course I obliged!  He was quite happy with his portrait!

Radomly Favorite Ms

Today I give you some favorites, chosen very randomly, all because they start with the letter M.  (very important as you'll see at the end of this post!)

MAGNOLIA  MACRO
In this Wintery part of the world, who isn't longing for Spring and its lovely, refreshing beauty?!

SINT MAARTEN
sunset on the beach on a favorite island in the Caribbean.  Does it get any better than this?!

MEOW
All through the night, the kitties bring us their favorite toys.  All the while they softly chant, "meow...meow...meow...meow...meow...meow."
These yellow strips are a current favorite because they're new!  They arrived wrapped around boxes I received in the mail.

MESMERIZING

mmmm
My friends Claire and Marc got married last August and held the reception at their farm.

I'm linking up with my favorite teacher, Ms Jenny Matlock!  See others' completed homework assignments HERE. Come join in!  This week our letter is "M."

Mushroom House

The creation of Cincinnati architect, Terry Brown, the Mushroom House is a fantastical structure constructed with materials used in inordinate ways--wood, colored glass, shell,

ceramics and metals.   His aim, giving homage to the organic style of Frank Lloyd Wright and to Gustav Stickley, was to create irregular shapes that mimic those found in nature.

Beginning life as a bungalow in an upscale area of Cincinnati, this house, his own residence and studio, was built gradually between 1992 and 2006.

Terry Brown holds bachelor's and master's degrees in architecture.  In 1983, he began teaching at the University of Cincinnati, and then later taught at Miami University of Oxford, Ohio.  After a Fulbright Fellowship at the Vienna Academy of Fine Art, in Austria, Brown began to develop his own unique style of architecture.  Brown's work is featured in many venues and  publications throughout the world.
