magic

Mossy Magic
Late January.  A gentle snow had frosted the landscape with a sugar-ice coating.  Eight friends embarked on a hike through a gorgeous forest enjoying the Wintery loveliness.
(hike to Natural Bridge, Red River Gorge, Kentucky)

Butterfly Magic
A young girl marvels at the loveliness of the pretty butterfly landing on her fingers.
(The Butterfly Farm, St. Martin)

Sunrise Magic
I rarely see sunrises, and this one from an airplane was awesome!

Kitty Magic
Oliver is so charming as well as the sweetest!

Flower Magic
Two black eyed susans grew together creating this strange and curious flower.  The other side (which you cannot see) looks exactly like this side.

random Zs

ZESTY
Meet Tigra, my daughter's kitty.  lover of rubber bands, catnip, people food, exploring, anything that's a circle, birdie watching, and people, too!  She has an enthusiastic love of life!  Here she is-- still for 3 seconds while I quickly snap her picture with my phone.

ZINGY

ZEALOUS zzzs
Oliver never was a lap kitty, till...we purchased new chairs for our library (more on that someday).  Now it's funny how he'll jump up on the chair and even onto my lap probably because there's not much room for his chunky mus-coo-lar body between me and the arm of the chair.

a few favorites

(very random)
In the Spring of 2011, we re-nested 3 baby barred owls.  This is "Barry," the first baby owl, so named by the neighborhood children.
I blogged about the owls:

I love exploring nature with my camera.  The tiny details of flowers fascinate me.  Sometimes I'm lucky and capture a creature as well.  This photo is my blog avatar which I've used since I started blogging in January of 2009.

I love to hike, especially in the mountains.  This photo was taken at the end point of a hike in Lake Louise, Canada--The Plain of Six Glaciers.  It is one of my all-time favorite hikes.  The scenery along the entire route is stunning.  To the tea house is about 3.5 miles with an elevation gain of 1200 feet.

I love the beach and the ocean.  I grew up 3 hours from the Eastern shore of the US, so trips to the beach were frequent.  This is a photo of Cupecoy, a beach on a favorite Caribbean island--St. Maarten.

seeming to undulate

This stunning passion flower is growing in the gardens of Sunny Point Cafe in Asheville, North Carolina.  The restaurant grows much of the vegetables and herbs served in its own extensive gardens.  Scattered among the gardens are tables and chairs, children's play areas, and gorgeous flowers.

Violet

This is a fun weekly meme, under the direction of Jenny Matlock.  This week the theme is violet, the end of a short run of color themes.  Come and join HERE.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is angelonia.  It is also called summer snapdragon.  A sun lover, it will grow 1-2 feet tall.  It is a perennial in zones 9 & 10.  The following link said it can be grown indoors in a sunny location, so I will bring this plant inside for the winter and see what it does.  I have a plant conservatory and may plant it in that.  I have a couple of these plants in containers by my front door.
