snippets (number 3)

of happyment

I decided to post something happy because my mother was taken to the hospital today. This is her 4th trip this year. I love her so much and this is distressing. So in honor of her, because Spring is beautiful, and because YELLOW is her favorite color, I am posting this cheerful daffodil.

"snippets of happyment" is inspired by a post on Rasa's blog happyment. I just love that word because it is a combination of the words happy and content. Sometimes something small can just fill your soul with a thrill. So, from time to time, I will capture one snippet of happyment and post it here.
This poem, written in 1804, was shared by AlpHa Buttonpusher.

I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced;
but theyOut-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,In such a jocund company:
I gazed---and gazed---but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

  1. Beautiful! I think that is an "Ice Follies" daffodil (or looks like one, anyway).

    I'm really sorry to hear that your mom has had to go to the hospital so often. Wishing her health and strength - and you also.

  5. Mishkat, That IS an ice follies daffodil!
    Thanks for all the well-wishes. My mother is in a very good hospital, though it is a 45 minute drive away. She is familiar with the staff, gets the same main 2doctors every time, and receives very good care. So I am comforted by that.
    Again, all the kind comments are very much appreciated.

  7. When you have once seen the glow of happiness on the face of a beloved person, you know that a man can have no vocation but to awaken that light on the faces surrounding him.

    That daffodil does bring joy Margaret, it was a good idea to post it, when you send good vibrations into the world the world sends them back to you.

    You should receive a small package of good wishes and even better health soon:)
