The End: Alphabet Soup

And so we come to the end of yet another odyssey with Alphabe-Thursday!  What a challenge it has been at times to come up with a creative post for the current letter of the alphabet.  I've enjoyed this journey with you, my readers and fellow Alphabe-Thursdayers, sharing our posts and lives.
Thanks, Jenny!  You've created a fun and inspiring community!

Dear Ms.Jenny,
I LOVE Alphabe-Thursday!  Thank you so much for hostessing this awesome meme once again!  You have created a wonderful community of bloggers.

It is often challenging to come up with a post for each letter as well as committing to posting for every letter.  But it is so much FUN!

So begins Round 9 in which we start with the Letter "A."    Come visit others' submissions HERE and join in the fun!

NOTE:  You do not have to post for every letter.

beautiful view: Happy Bay

Last week I posted a photo of umbrellas behind a rock on Happy Bay.  This week I'm showing you more views of this beautiful beach.

To get to Happy Bay (Anse Heureuse) on the French side of St. Martin, one must first go to Friars' Bay.  At the far end of this beach, there is a path through the trees and over a few rocks.  It's about a 10 minute fairly easy hike.

almost there.  But first go through this gate:

Say hello to the cow and bull.
(See the horns?!)

arrived!
Look closely at the middle of the far right and you will see the blue and white striped umbrellas.  The rock cairns are in front of them.
I believe that people simply enjoy stacking rocks, so when they come to the beach and see them available they begin.  Someone else sees a cairn and makes one, too.

Piles of rocks are exposed on the beach and in the water at one end of this crescent of golden white sand.

umbrellas

There are people sandwiched between the umbrellas and the rocks sporting numerous cairns at beautiful Happy Bay on St. Martin.

PS:  The big rocks were put there on the beach by nature.  For fun, people have come to the beach and built little rock cairns on top of them.  Sometime in the near future, I'll post other photos of Happy Bay.  There are more large rocks in the water and on the sand on one end of this lovely bay.

Textures

To celebrate our wedding anniversary and to escape the cold and snow, my hubby and I traveled by plane
(de-icing the plane as seen through the airplane window)

(The scrubby gray and lime green plants covering the "mountain" contrast with the deep blue sky dotted with floating white puffy clouds.)
to the lovely, warm, semi-arid tropical Caribbean island of Sint Maarten/Saint Martin.

We "discovered" a most gorgeous beach, Happy Bay.  Rocks emerge in various configurations at one end of this lovely crescent of sand.

Time to return home.  Our flight out has been significantly delayed.  We miss our connector.  The airline puts us up for the night and we get about 2½ hours of sleep.  The upside of this is we get to watch a beautiful sunrise from the window of the plane.  ( I will confess to you that it's rare for me to ever see the sun rise.)  Here we are on top of the clouds!
